Suraj Saggar

Dr. Saggar is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of infectious diseases; from such common ailments as Influenza, varicella, MRSA and bacterial skin infections to complex issues such as tuberculosis, HIV, Zika, Dengue, Lyme and SARS-CoV2. He has an academic focus in Infection Prevention and Antimicrobial Stewardship

He has been on staff at Holy Name since 2007, and currently serves as the Chief of the Department of Infectious Disease, Medical Director of the Institute for Clinical Research and is the chair of Infection Prevention at Holy Name. Dr. Saggar also has a private practice in Englewood, NJ.

He is an adjunct clinical associate professor at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York City. Dr. Saggar earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond and medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency and fellowship in infectious diseases at Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease and is a Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America.

Dr. Saggar has conducted clinical research at the National Institutes of Health and as a Merck Research Fellow. He is currently a Primary investigator in several ongoing trials of COVID-19 therapeutics as well as other numerous clinical trials involving all aspects of clinical medicine. He is on the speaker’s bureau of Abbie Pharmaceuticals and Regeneron & regularly lectures for Grand Rounds and to medical students and residents.
